First Trip to the Ocean

Yesterday, we went to Point Reyes to register Rich's backpacking class for a campsite in a few months. We had a great road trip and enjoyed showing Devin the Pacific Ocean for the first time. It was pretty chilly out there so we said, "There it is" and took some pictures. Then we made our way back home. These pictures are just so darn cute. We have quite the photogenic boy.

Today, we had the other couples from our birthing class over so we could meet all the little ones. All the babies were born in October, so it was fun to see how they are all developing in line with eachother. We put them on the couch for a group shot...Devin was sandwiched between the two girls. He loved it. Our camera battery died so I don't have a photo to post, but hopefully will receive one from the others via email soon. I do have some video though that is beyond precious.

Time to Explore

Hey - It's my frog.
I'm going to have to eat you!
I love my froggie.
And I love my daddy too!

Devin is doing great these days laughing and smiling up a storm. As of yesterday, he was 17 pounds, 1 ounce with his clothes on. And I have officially moved him into his 6-12 month clothes. He is still sleeping great, although he didn't go right back to sleep at 5 a.m. this morning like he normally does. But he's letting Rich and I get a good nights sleep overall. No complaints here.

Devin is in his crib right now with his musical aquarium going. Wonder if he'll put himself to sleep on his own? That could be a good thing to learn as babies sleep deeper if they put themselves to sleep on their own. I think he's a bit young for that though. And naps are harder on him overall. He's so alert and aware of everything that he wants to look around. This is when those blackout curtains could really come in handy. I figure that as long as he sleeps well at night, I don't worry about the daytime naps.

I go back to work next Thursday and am getting mentally ready. I know Devin will be fine. It is clearly harder to send me to work than Devin to his Grandma's house. I feel so fortunate to have had 3 1/2 months off work. It was a time that I will forever cherish.
Ok...I just checked on Devin. While writing this blog and posting the pictures, he put himself to sleep...ON HIS OWN. It may only happen this one time. But a huge milestone at best!

Here's another one of Devin's photo shoots. We couldn't resist some naked baby shots to capture those rolls. 3 Months Old

Devin is three months old now. It is hard to believe that we met our sweet baby boy only a few months ago. He is such a fun baby these days. He is a non-stop chatter box with his own baby talk. He loves to smile and is perfecting a really good laugh. He can move his arms and legs around like the best of them. He's also sitting up pretty well - not totally on his own yet, but he's getting more sturdy by the day. He can also hold onto a small fabric toy or bib and manage to get them in his mouth. Something tells me that is just a sampling of what the future will hold.

Two days ago, I weighed Devin at my Mom's group and he was just over 16 pounds. He goes back to the doctor in a month so we'll get the official weight and height stats then. But he seems to be growing great and filling out some extra rolls.

Devin is also sleeping like a champ. He was in his crib for 11 hours last night. He got up for a quick meal after 7 hours and then went back down for another 4. He's just doing great in that dept. I hear that it all unwinds though when teething begins. Hopefully that won't be too soon. Although our little guy can drool, drool, and drool some more.

In this next month, we look forward to learning Devin's personality even more. And hopefully he'll learn the roll over technique. It will be fun to watch his development in the coming weeks.

Hope you all are well and enjoying the brisk start to 2007.

Almost 3 Months

Devin is a sleeping champ. He went eight hours straight last night without waking up. I was excited to say the least. This week has been a huge turning point going from four or five hours up to sleeping through the night. Life is good!

My day was also topped off by Rich bringing home an amazing three diamond necklace yesterday. He put it on Devin and waited for me to notice. It was so cute. I looked over at Devin expecting a bunch of drool, and found a sparkling necklace instead. Talk about a surprise. Thanks Rich!!!

Sporting Some New Threads

Here's a picture of Devin's newest hat. And yes, it says, "Boob Man" on the front. Our friends Pam and Bobbi are the contributors to this gift. It was so cold while visiting Santana Row in San Jose that Devin had the chance to wear his new hat. We had quite a few laughs from the people walking around.

Devin slept great again last night. So, that is two days in a row. Hopefully tonight will bring more of the same!

Sleeping Like A Baby

Devin has blessed his parents with a great night of sleep last night. He went to bed at 9:30 p.m. and didn't get up until 3:30 a.m. He ate for a quick ten minutes and was back in bed for another 3 hour stretch. I tell yah, 9 hours of sleep with only a 10 minute intermission was like heaven. I never thought I'd get so excited over 5 or 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Devin is talking (in his own style) up a storm lately. He should be in bed right now but rather is in a super good mood and is swinging in the swing and chatting away with daddy. Just so darn cute!

Our sweet baby is changing by the day. He loves to chew on his hand, look around, and is starting to laugh now too. It is so fun! He also can sit up pretty well on his own. He has great control over his head and posture. I wonder if he'll officially sit up on his own before he rolls over. Hmmm.

Ok, time for bed. Wonder if Devin will ever get sleepy??? Right now he looks like he's ready to party. Something tells me tonight could be much different than the last.

11 Weeks and 4 Days Old

A true multi-tasker. He can ride in the swing,
suck his thumb, and hold the burp cloth all at once.

We had a special stocking stuffer this year. A big thanks to Vickie
Nutter who enlisted her Nanna to make the stocking by hand.
So easy to ham up for a picture.

Happy New Year

Mommy was trying to dress me and
couldn't resist a picture of my rolls.
Yeah...maybe I'll work with Jason at the San Jose Fire Dept.

I love to drool!

Happy New Year to you all. We had a great time ringing in the New Year with friends. Although Jen and Devin only made it to an east coast time zone celebration. haha. Devin is changing so much by the day. He can now reach for a toy in his play gym with pretty good accuracy. Although he hasn't figured out how to open his hand and grab it. That will come soon I am sure. He also is holding his head up really well. We've turned him to be facing out in the Baby Bjorn carrier and he loves it. And the mirror in the bathroom is pure enjoyment for him. He's becoming more of a baby and less of a newborn. I've heard that the three month mark is like turning the corner, and I now believe it. Devin is much easier to please, or maybe we've just come to learn eachother's wishes better.
