Almost 7 Weeks Old

Devin will be 7 weeks old tomorrow. I can't believe how the time has flown. Above are a few more recent pictures. The bottom one shows how Devin folded his hands together all by himself. He really isn't posed! Such a sweetheart. Devin and I went to a Mom's group today and it was wonderful to meet about 20 other moms with babies 6 months old or younger. It was nice to talk with everyone and learn that our sweet boy is right on track with sleeping, eating, and such. Speaking of sleeping, Devin slept for five hours straight the other night. I couldn't believe it. Last night was great too. He didn't sleep as long but went right back to sleep after eating. I can only hope he keeps this up. I also had the chance to weigh Devin today and he is a whopping 12 pounds now. I thought he looked as big as some of the 3-month old babies we met today. Maybe he has half a chance of catching up to his cousin James. :-)

6 Weeks and 3 Days

Here's a cute picture of Devin hanging out with daddy. I just love how he smiles and makes sounds for us now. So sweet! Devin and I made a quick trip to the pediatrician today to have the doc check out a mysterious rash on his neck and back. It turned out just to be a heat rash so we've been instructed to turn down the thermostat in our house. I knew our little guy was a heater by himself, so this proves it. Rich and I have to start putting on sweatshirts at home I guess. But I was relieved to know that this would likely be a simple fix. Not too much else is going on with us these days. Just trying to get our boy to sleep for more than two to four hours at a time. There is so much to learn as new parents but I like to think we are getting the hang of it.

Happy Thanksgiving

Celebrating Devin's first Thanksgiving.

Cousin James being silly with a bowl on his head. Just so darn cute!

We had a great Thanksgiving feast at my brother and sister-in-laws today. It was great being together so Devin and his cousin James could celebrate their first Thanksgiving together. We had a wonderful day. A special thanks to our hosts for taking on the big cooking endeavor this year. And it is official. Rich knows how to delivery a baby goat. Serious! One of Cathy's goats delivered a kid right before dinner. Rich was right there assisting Cathy for the big event. Talk about exciting. We also used Cathy's baby scale to weigh Devin. He weighed in at 11 pounds, 11 ounces with all his clothes on. I knew he gained a lot, but wow. We go back to the doctor in 2 weeks, so we'll be able to confirm all his stats then.

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and took a moment to say thanks and reflect on all the wonders of the year. We certainly had lots to be thankful for this year.

5 Weeks Old

Devin started smiling and making sounds today. It was so fun to finally interact with him and have a response back. Yeah! I can tell this next chapter will be a fun and exciting one. I tried to capture his smile with a photo, but was a little slow with the trigger finger. I got half a smile in one of the pictures above. Devin is also getting pretty good at using his legs to inch his way down when sitting in his seat. Guess it is time to start strapping him in. Oh, and check out those thighs...he's starting to get some rolls.

One Month Old

We took Devin down to the mall for his first photo shoot. We wanted to capture how cute he was at his one month birthday. He was fussy at first but after a quick break to eat and have a diaper change, he was a total sport. Here's a link to the pictures so you can check Devin out first hand. http://smilestore.picturepeople.com/my/images?tk=ee3d2306-630a-4a34-9c3c-84b78e52a73b. Just click the "Slideshow" link on the web page. Of course, we bought a ton of prints so we have plenty to share.

We are doing great. Trying to figure out the night routine still, but we are slowly getting the hang of it. Devin usually sleeps from about 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. Then he eats and usually goes back to sleep. Then the big question is whether he'll be up every hour thereafter or stay asleep for a few hours at a time. Each day is different. But overall, he's a great kid and we are enjoying every moment. Soon, we expect to get a smile in return. He's very close. And he spotted his cute toys on his carseat yesterday for the first time. He is always busy staring and looking around. It is so fun to watch him change. Rich says that he's a new baby every day because he's changing so much.

4 Weeks Old

Devin is 4 weeks old today. He is very alert and busy looking around. We are getting into a routine somewhat now. And he has been really enjoying visits from his grandparents. Talk about being spoiled with lots of naps on people's chests. The weather has been great so we've been taking lots of walks although I hear that rain is on its way.

Rich has had a light teaching schedule so it has been great having him home to spend time with Devin and I. It has been a wonderful time. Looking forward to Devin's first Thanksgiving in just a few weeks.

3 Weeks Old

Devin and Grandpa Phil

Devin hanging out with Mady
Devin is three weeks old now and doing great. He is a good eater and sleeper so we are finding the first month to be going really well so far. We feel so lucky. We have been getting out of the house every day and am getting the hang of being new parents. Devin is pretty much sleeping with us, so our bed is pretty full between Rich, I, Devin, and Piper. If I could get a picture, it would be a funny sight I'm sure. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

A Cutie Pie

Here's another cute picture of Devin. As you can tell, we are still very picture happy around here. Devin has changed so much in just a few weeks. He seems a lot bigger to me. And he is alert so much more now and is always busy looking at different things.
