Awesome Sleeper

After 16 months of waiting, we officially have a star sleeper in our house. And no, we are not talking about the dog. haha. Devin has finally found his groove in the sleeping category. He goes to bed around 8 p.m. and will sleep until 7 or 7:30 a.m. We are thrilled!!! He will wake up in the night but go back to sleep on his own. And in the morning, he'll play with his music box on the side of his crib for a while before asking to get up. It is so sweet to go in his room to find him sitting there smiling away. I actually got up before him for the first time this past weekend. That was an absolute first!

New Pics

Here's a picture from a brunch we had a few weeks ago. Devin (on far right) is sitting with Reede, Tyler, and Beck (from left to right) at his first official "kids" table.
Here's a picture of Devin at the Ranger Station in Point Reyes.
Hmmm. What do they have under here?
Devin has enough teeth to eat a pear all on his own now.
Another favorite toy...the salad spinner!
He is a crazy man with the vacuum. He insists on a complete vacuum every morning! He's a bigger neat freak than all of us combined.
Devin having a little snack with dad.Devin is such a snuggler. He gives the absolute best hugs and kisses!
The Piper dog. She is so patient as Devin chases her all around and tries to run her over with his push toys.

16 Months Old

Devin is 16 months old today! I realize I have been delinquent in my postings so I'll do my best to catch everyone up. I also have picture to post when I am sitting at the computer next time with my camera in hand.

Devin had his first official "super bad" cold this week. He woke up on Monday really congested and wheezing. Rich and I thought it sounded so bad that we took him into the emergency room (his doctor's office was not open yet). Needless to say, Devin did not enjoy all the poking and prodding from the nurses and doctors. His temp was 102 and he just sounded and felt, I'm sure, super yucky. After a few hours there, they released him saying that he had a viral bug and it would likely get worse before better. His fever was around 101 to 102 through Tuesday and now it is just a low grade fever around 99 to 100. He is definitely on the mend. Now he is just dealing with a runny nose and congestion. But he seems to be back to his perky old self. I'm so glad he is on the road to recovery. Phew!

We confirmed his weight the other day at 26 pounds 12 ounces. And he seems to be taller because his 2T pants are not quite as long now. He sure is sprouting up!

Devin is still signing like crazy, and it makes things so easy for us.

Being outside is still Devin's favorite past time. And if he has a broom while outside, he's content for hours. He certainly has a thing for cleaning. He took the napkin off the table and started wiping the floor the other day. And he can't quite figure out how to move the vacuum on his own. Poor guy gets so frustrated wanting to do it on his own. We have to hide the vacuum cleaner now. I think he watches Grandma Valdez clean so he also wants to busy like his abuelita. How do I get him to do dishes though?? Just kidding.

Yesterday, Devin was climbing up on the couch and jumping (cautiously) off. He loved it. He is definitely learning how to climb. And he smiles and claps his hands each time. He also loves to get into the rocker and rock back and forth with a big smile. He has such a cute personality.

Devin is still a wonderful eater. He loves his green vegetables. And he'll eat pretty much anything we give him. He is becoming very proficient at using a spoon and fork. He also will eat out of a bowl without tipping it or dropping food on the floor. So nice! Devin also loves to eat fruit all on his own. You can peel down a banana and he'll hold it himself and eat it. He also will smack an apple into his mouth to bite off a big piece. It's hilarious to watch. And popcorn is a HUGE hit. We only give that to him as a treat when we go to the Davis farmers market. He loves to eat a snack and run around the park with the other kids.

Devin still loves his music. He waves his hands up and down whenever he hears music in the house, car, or restaurant. He has quite the ear for it.

I would say that Devin is very mobile now and likes to run whenever he can. He's very sturdy on his feet.

Devin can understand and follow instructions (when he wants) really well. I'll ask him to give something to daddy and he will. Or I'll ask him to put his clothes in the hamper and he does. It is amazing how much he understands us. He can comprehend complex sentences at such a young age.

Devin has been a super sleeper lately (I almost hate to jinx myself by writing about it). He goes to bed around 8 or 8:30 and gets up between 6:30 and 7:00. It is sooooo nice!

We are excited to celebrate Devin's 16 month birthday along with what would have been his late great grandmother's 91st birthday. She is someone we all miss very much.
